Working on or near energized 11 kV lines is extremely dangerous and must be performed with the utmost care. Key safety precautions include:

• De-energization and Grounding: Before any work begins, the line must be completely de-energized, tested for voltage, and securely grounded using portable earthing kits to prevent accidental re-energization.

• Maintaining Safe Clearances: Crews must maintain specific safe distances from the energized lines. Tools, equipment, and personnel must not violate these clearances.

• Use of Insulated Equipment: When work on or near live lines is unavoidable, it must be performed using specialized insulated tools and hot sticks rated for the specific voltage.

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Linemen must wear a full suite of PPE, including insulated gloves, safety helmets, and fall protection harnesses, at all times while working at heights.
